Karnataka works differently from most states. For years, it has registered farmers through its own database, FRUITS (fruits.karnataka.gov.in), which gives each farmer a state Farmer ID, often called the FID. At the same time, Karnataka is part of AgriStack: the national figures list 66,05,504 Farmer IDs for Karnataka on 6 August 2026, the fifth-highest in India.
This guide explains FRUITS, how it relates to AgriStack, what land details Karnataka uses, and where to get help.
We verified the FRUITS website and its helpline. An AgriStack Farmer Registry address for Karnataka (kafr.agristack.gov.in) exists, but it returned an access error and timeouts during our checks on 12 October 2026, so we do not link it. If it becomes publicly available, we will update this guide.

What FRUITS is
FRUITS stands for Farmer Registration and Unified beneficiary InformaTion System. It is Karnataka’s own database of farmers, linked to the state’s Bhoomi land records. A farmer registered in FRUITS gets a FID (Farmer ID), which Karnataka departments have used for state schemes and benefits.
FRUITS predates the national AgriStack programme. Karnataka’s experience with a land-linked farmer database is one reason AgriStack was designed so that states can build on their existing systems.
How FRUITS relates to AgriStack
The official national figures count AgriStack Farmer IDs in Karnataka. From the public sources we checked, we cannot tell exactly how Karnataka generates these IDs, for example whether FRUITS records are migrated or farmers register separately. What this means for you:
- If you already have a FRUITS FID, ask your Raitha Samparka Kendra whether you need to do anything further for AgriStack.
- If you are not registered at all, start with FRUITS, which is the system Karnataka departments use.
- If a central scheme asks for an AgriStack Farmer ID, ask the scheme office or Raitha Samparka Kendra how Karnataka handles it.
We will not guess on this point, because a wrong instruction could cost you a benefit.
Land details used in Karnataka
Karnataka’s land records come from the Bhoomi system. The key document is the RTC (Record of Rights, Tenancy and Crops), also called Pahani. For each plot, note:
- district, taluk, hobli and village;
- survey number and hissa number (sub-division);
- the owner name and extent.
Compare the RTC name with your Aadhaar. Kannada and English spellings often differ; small differences are normal.
Registering in FRUITS
FRUITS registration is typically done through the Raitha Samparka Kendra (farmer contact centre) of the agriculture department, or online through the FRUITS website where available. You will usually need:
- Aadhaar;
- RTC details for your land;
- bank account details for scheme payments;
- caste and category information where relevant for schemes.
Check the FRUITS website for the current process, as options change.
